
The OECD Guidelines on Corporate Governance of State-Owned Enterprises were originally adopted in 2005 as an internationally-agreed standard on how governments should exercise ownership of SOEs. These Guidelines were recently reviewed and revised to take into account developments since 2005 and reflect the experiences of the growing number of countries that have taken steps to implement them.
The revision process was overseen by the OECD Corporate Governance Committee’s Working Party on State Ownership and Privatisation Practices. It involved extensive consultations with business and labour representatives, civil society and representatives of OECD’s partner countries. The updated Guidelines were adopted by the OECD in July this year and may be downloaded here:
