Dr Chris Pierce was in Mauritius for 2 weeks in June 2016 to promote the New Corporate Governance Code for Mauritius ahead of its implementation on 1st July 2016.
His visit was organised by the Mauritius Institute of Directors (MIoD), and they arranged a busy schedule of workshops on the New Code for various sectors of the business community.
The New Code has been developed after 2 years of extensive consultation. In 2014, the Mauritius Government appointed Dr Pierce to lead the development of the New Code with the assistance of the National Committee on Corporate Governance (NCCG). The New Code is effective for the financial year ending 2017.
