The Corporate Governance (CG) Group of the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and the Sri Lanka Institute of Directors (SLID) organized a Training of Trainers (ToT) workshop, which was held in Colombo on the three days 30 Aug – 1 September 2016. The workshop was attended by 9 trainers who deliver corporate governance training to senior leaders in banking, financial institutes and other relevant companies in Sri Lanka. Participants were familiarized with board leadership and bank governance toolkits, taught how to use these resources, and given guidance on improving their training design and experiential adult learning skills. They were encouraged to share and discuss their own experiences through adult learning techniques such as interactive lectures, case studies, and a variety of exercises. The program’s aim was for participants to develop the knowledge base and skill sets needed to lead director education programs that reflect international best practices adapted to regional trends and country specific needs.

The program was designed and delivered by Dr Mary Jo Larson (Associate of GGS) and Dr Chris Pierce (CEO of GGS), both senior trainers with the IFC.
